Weequahic, set in 1952, is based on the unpublished memoir of Myron Sugerman, a Jewish gangster who penned his stories of the old days while under house arrest in the 1990's. Four wiseguys in the numbers racket hang out at a diner in the Weequahic section of Newark and spend most of their time trying to find new patsies to collect some extra scratch. Their latest scheme, a comical attempt to shake down the owner of the very diner they call home, yields very unpredictable results in this true story.
